I deeply regret having treatment here. After excellent HIFU results on my face with a different provider, I booked for my upper arms, attracted by the low price. The session in September was very uncomfortable and I wasn't offered any numbing cream. Since then I've had persistent pain and weakness in my forearms that has affected my daily life — simple tasks like driving a short distance, hoovering or ironing are exhausting. From my own research, nerve irritation seems a likely cause. I was contacted by two members of staff and offered a further treatment to help. I had an appointment booked well in advance but when I arrived after an 80-mile round trip, the premises was shut and no one was there for nearly half an hour. I've since been offered a credit note, but given the circumstances I feel a refund and reimbursement for travel expenses is entirely reasonable. Neither has been forthcoming. I am still dealing with these distressing side effects.

For anyone thinking of booking, here is my honest account. The booking process via WhatsApp was quick and simple. However, the premises were noticeably run-down compared to the previous clinic location. There was no answer on the intercom when I arrived. The practitioner arrived just before opening time without acknowledging she was late, despite my appointment requesting 15 minutes early check-in. The treatment room was cramped. During the initial consultation the practitioner was texting on her phone, which I found very unprofessional. I felt pressured into paying an additional £30 for a booster and the whole consultation felt rushed with no eye contact or genuine welcome. No post-treatment advice was given, unlike my previous visits to Vivo. For a micro-needling session at £129 I expected a far higher standard of service. A real disappointment compared to previous experiences.

A very poor experience. I booked and paid for a HIFU facial treatment that lasted only 20 minutes. Within a few hours I developed a severe migraine that lasted three days — far beyond the mild headache sometimes mentioned as a possible side effect. When I cancelled my subsequent booked sessions, the clinic refused to refund my deposit despite the next appointment being five weeks away. I found this to be very poor practice. How much fat does one session remove?

That comes down to how your body responds to ultrasound energy — a response that differs from person to person.

For reference, a published clinical study suggests a single Ultrasound Cavitation session can produce a fat reduction of approximately 1.5cm.

What does a full course look like?

As with per-session results, the right number of treatments is individual — though most clients see their best outcome over a course of 3 to 6 sessions.

Booking each appointment 4 to 7 days after the last helps minimise the chance of fat being reabsorbed.

Should I expect any side effects?

Mild, temporary redness in the treated area is the only side effect commonly reported.

That flush of colour doesn't linger — it typically fades shortly after the session finishes.

Does Ultrasound Cavitation hurt?

Not in the slightest. The treatment has a reputation for genuine comfort — the sensation is frequently compared to a warm stone massage.

Is any recovery time involved?

None. An Ultrasound Cavitation session involves no scalpels, no needles and no anaesthesia whatsoever.

Once your appointment finishes, work, exercise and everything else can continue without restriction.

Is there anything I need to do before treatment?

Arrive without a tan — natural or artificial — since skin that is tanned may respond more sensitively to ultrasound energy.

If you have developed a tan, please wait until at least three days after it has completely faded before your first session; that protects your safety and gives you the best possible results.

What does good aftercare involve?

Hydration comes first: drinking plenty of water gives your body what it needs to metabolise the glycerol and fatty acids that treated fat cells release.

Eating a nutritious, balanced diet during and after your course will help maximise your results and keep them for longer.

We also suggest skipping alcohol for a minimum of three days after every session, so your liver can process and clear the released fats efficiently.
